The switch still makes the noise that motor is running but its getting weaker I have an 89 190e and the sunroof has some problems. Feb 07, 2012 Does the sun roof do anything whebn you press the button. I did notice that if I wait for 10-20 minutes then If you can close if by sliding it then the mechanism is fine. I took it in to my service guys and all it needed was lubrication. Accessing the hatch requires removing the forward headliner visor part whereas the motor is behind the trunk paneling. Finally got everything together and adjusted properly. The rear seat cushion must be removed to access the rear fuse block.
I needed a daily driver so the Hemi powered Ram wouldnt drain me. Now slide in the headliner and pop it back into place. Be sure to get the measurements before you shop for a new sunroof seal. The motor is mounted in the trunk and it can be openedclosed manually from the trunk and moves the hatch with cables on the roof mounted track. Required some cutting and welding of the front track guides as well as removal of the lift arm on each side bracket that pulls the headliner panel up.
I would bet this is a a drop in on the 190 I remember that thread. I tried to find a fse labeled elec. This piece is a simply aluminum channel that directs the water to either channel left or right and moves updownbackforward with the sunroof or moonroof. The tachometer takes input from the revolutions of the engine, so can you identify if the connection in the engine is okay, or if the connection to the actual guage tachometer on the dash is okay. I hope this is understandable When I raise the back of the sunroof pressing on the button 3 it opens but when I pull down on it 4 to close I hear the motor but nothing happens but I manage to close it by pulling the button towards me 1 just just got a 1985 190E 2. I think it is some kind of metal rod btw because it needs to be able to push and pull on the sunroof. At least you cant burn your motor out.
So I was able to pop the liner out without any trouble and I could use some help. The sunroof is a slide tilt version, the back drops down an inch or two and then the roof slides back. You should be able to pry the ignition lock and the cover out of its place. The crimps look awful and unstable. Activate the sunroof motor and the cable will be forced out the front. Can any one help me as its summer time now.
It could be that the insignia wore off. The Rabbit was a reliable urban runabout and the 240 was a damn nice orginal southern car. As Mr Haynes says reassembly is the reverse of the above proceedure.
So it appears that the cable has broken or come off somewhere If both mechanisms seem to be broken I would assume you could move the sunroof by hand since nothing is holding it in place. Have you got the slide and tilt sunroof or just slide version? I tightened the nut little at a time until the roof opened and closed ok. Be sure to check-out all the preventative maintainance issues first. Preferably a W124 as that should fit the W201 sunroof motor might not attach to the body in the exact same sometimes with the key on i hear a small motor in the right corner of the dash. While opening my sunroof today the roof went back a few inches and then abruptly stopped. This was not a prgressive thing just very sudden. Any insight would be appreciated.
This came from a search under 190 sunroof. My current sunroof almost stop at its 23 of its run when closing. Since your radio is getting power its unlikely but could be intermittent. It included things like changing the cabin air filter greasing the sunroof mechanism etc. Drill out the spot welds and then cut along the stainless track to get as much of the ramp as you can.
Can anyone tell me where to start Thanks for any input. Picture 2 - Shows the rail removed. I need to lube the track. The tracks could probably use some grease. My sunroof sounds like it jumped tracked. Here is their order, bottom to top: first the metal rocking plates, then bearing on top and then springs that fit instide posts on top cap peice of switch.

You also want to either pull the headliner down a little in this area or have a stop on your drill bit so that you do not go through the headliner.
