Vehilcle had dead battery, jump started the car and the interior lights would not turn off, as well as the running boards. However, I cannot for the life of me understand why this leaky windshield problem is not being recalled. Root cause was leaking windshield seal which corroded electronics. It means they will not operate and if you don't feel safe at night without them, its not an option for you, If it doesn't bother you one way or the other, remove the bulbs. The Coil Does Not Store The Voltage, It Only Only Increases It. I had the motor replaced for the passenger window and it fixed the issue for a little bit. I had a similar problem.
You have a bad door switch on one of the doors or liftgate. Sometimes you have to take a bright flash light and peek under to find the panel that pops off revealing the fuses. I have to turn down the dashboard dimmer control all the way off in order to turn off both the interior lights and the passenger-side mirror light the light below the mirror. My 02 Mounty done it and the guys here helped me out now it is fixed. We took it to the dealership and they would not replace the defective panels this time because it was know longer under warranty. Then while everything was apart I decided to do some research online and found this forum through Google by typing in key words like interior lights stay on, horn beeps twice etc. If you do find one turns the light off, it's an adjustment problem with the plunger switch.

Well, I finally got another one of these Explorers in and took some extra pictures to show the harness connector and the wires. There were no prior warnings. Of course it drained my battery. The the abs relays would click on and off after key has been turned off. It's probably the drivers side door. They all have this feature so if the motor or switch goes out you can still close it. Ben Just to let you know that there is no way to turn them off. I had this vehicle in the shop multiple times for these issues. I wrapped all connections with electrical tape and replaced the boot. I have checked and replaced many relays. I sincerely hope no one dies or has died due to one of these Expeditions catching fire. I have a 2002 xlt v8, the interior lights will not turn off when I get out unless I manually shut them off via the switch next to the exterior lights. The failure mileage was 80,000 and current mileage was 130,000. So after dark when it was discovered, I couldn't keep going out to check it, so I pulled every fuse that had to do with lights until the interior lights turned off, so at least I wouldn't have a dead battery.
The interior lights stay on however, when the glass is open. Make sure you get the proper new rotors with either 12mm or 14mm holes in the rotors as the Expedition changed to 14mm sometime during production. Lights on gauge cluster were flickering too. Sometimes, the lights blinked rapidly, and sometimes they would just stay on. I am having the car serviced tomarrow to find out what the problem is.
The switch which seems to be going bad is inside the door. Turned off vehicle in parking lot and interior lighting and running board lights would not shut off for a few minutes. I had the same problem on a 97 model. The blower motor will not cut off even though the key is out. Dealer also replaced cruise control harness at this time. Various electrical components go on and off without the key in the ignition, and some go out while driving. On my description of service codes p-1867-2f, b-1317-2f, b1318-2f, b2477-60, b2486-20, b1318-20, u1900-20, p0121-ff, p2104-ff, p2112ff, b1318ff, were all found. A Torx-45 should fit for the pins. The switch is located inside the door near the latch.
Third, the side panels on the Expedition exterior started fading at about 20,000 miles. I am still waiting for my local ford company to return my call since they were busy helping customers there so I went to youtube and did a search. Put a new switch in the door. Little tight to get into to work but not hard work. I was hours from home and doing 70mph on the highway when evidencing decided to not work at the same time. For some reason as the float closed off the needle valve,the fuel flowed at full pressure back to the tank and the carb. There is also linkage that will have to be removed.
